Antique 3-Color Jadeite Koi & Cat Pendant
We're reliably told by the former owners that this pennate dates to at least the very early 1900s, and possibly earlier. It was in the same Hawaii family for as long as anyone can remember. The family is now paring back on jewelry that "I just don't wear jewelry like I once did and hope that someone else can enjoy it as I did." Such a nice sentiment, don't you think?
This is a piece of very fine quality. Beautiful 3-color natural, untreated, Jadeite of green, white, and brown is the foundation for a beautiful carving, repeated on front and back, of a Koi in a pool with a Cat overlooking intently. The Jadeite, without bail, measures 50mm x 30mm - a sizable piece. The14K Gold foliate bail is beautifully rendered. It is suspended from a 16 inch, 14k Gold wheat chain, itself weighing 4.1 grams.
Look closely at this one. Definitely worth the time.
