Antique 10K Lady's Tiger Eye Cabochon Ring
This sweetie goes back a ways. Back to the time of World War II in fact. The estate tells us that this ring was in the family for that long. The estate is liquidating to downsize, and trimming the jewelry holdings. We're so glad this one was trimmed!
This is an antique lady's Tiger Eye ring set in a 10K gold bezel setting. This is not a shrinking violet, measuring in the setting 17mm x 10mm - a nicely sized cabochon. Not too big; not too small. Tiger Eye is a popular gem for its Chatoyancy. Chatoyancy is a band or star of light that appears within the stone when light is reflected. In Sapphire it is a star; in Tiger Eye it is a band. So as the ring moves with your finger, the reflected light will change the coloration, highlighting this or that color while minimizing another color as the light plays through the stone. You can literally watch the band of light move across the face of the ring. Beautiful.
The ring is a size 5.75 (5 3/4) and has a weight of 2.7 grams. A lovely, lovely ring from "back in the day."
