Antique Matador's Jacket Charm in 14K
As the story goes this is one charm from an original bracelet of many European-themed charms that had been in the family since at least the early 1900s. Over the years individual charms were removed and passed-down to children, grandchildren, and other family members and placed on other bracelets or made into pendants. This is one of those individual charms. And it's a beauty.
The traje de luces ('suit of lights') is the traditional clothing that Spanish Bullfighters (toreros, picadores, and rejoneadores) wear in the bullring. The waistcoats and tight britches are typically of silk and highly decorated.
This is the jacket. Worked in solid 14K Gold, this highly detailed piece is additionally adorned with inset Rubies and Emeralds. In all, a classically beautiful charm the likes of which simply are not found in great supply today. This piece would be suitable for addition to a charm bracelet or suspended as a pendant.
This charm measures approximately 20mm in height and 20mm in width. It has a weight of 5 grams. The charm is not marked for gold purity, but purity was tested and confirmed in-house as 14K. Will arrive in box as shown suitable for storage and presentation.
