Vintage Diamond Accented Amethyst in Heavy Brutalist 14k Setting
From an O'ahu Estate comes this truly amazing ring.
In the 1950s and continuing to the early 1970s the Brutalist Movement appeared briefly on the jewelry design landscape and then was gone. But what a mark these designers left! Asymmetrical designs departing form the normal balance of jewelry pieces. Almost as though haphazardly tossed together in random form. Today we appreciate the nonconformism that gave us this style.
And what an example we have here. From the late 1950s to early 1960s comes this Brutalist Ring in all the glory of the genre. Asymmetrical geometric shapes, a bark-finished shank, all to host a beautify Oval Cut Amethyst. And as if to give a slight nod to convention, three points of Natural Diamond accents - just because. A dramatic piece that will appeal to the non-conformist in all of us.
This is a heavy ring, weighing in at 11.3 grams of 14K Yellow Gold. That's a lot of gold, typical of the Brutalist Style. There are 3 natural Diamond accents to the 10mm x 8mm x 5mm Oval Cut Amethyst. The Amethyst has a calculated weight of 2 Carats. The face of this ring is as large as it looks, measuring approximately 19.5mm x 22.5mm. Big. This lovely is a size 5 but could be sized up by your professional jeweler if desired.
