This is a white on pink Conch-Shell Cameo from Italy made in the 1950s. In classic Italian Cameo Style, it features an Idealized Beautiful Lady in profile. The hand carving is rendered in high relief with very, very sharp and well defined detail. Cameos are always in style for classically dressy occasions and this will put your outfit over the top. As typical for Cameos of this period it can be worn either as a pendant or as a pin with both bail and clasp on the back.
This Cameo is elegantly framed in solid 10K Yellow Gold. The frame has very lovely open filagree work all around. The Cameo measures a good sized 35mm x 28mm and has a weight of 7.9 grams. It suspends from a 14K Yellow Gold Espiga or Wheat Chain that is approximately 20 inches in length and weighs 2.5 grams. Total weight 10.4 grams.
