Vintage Half-Hoop Jade Earrings
We love to tell interesting stories about Vintage Jewelry.
This pair of lovely multi-color Jade Earrings comes to us from an O'ahu Estate. We are told that they were acquired in Okinawa in the early 1970s and are still in their original box. Indeed, the box is imprinted with the name Sanyo Jewelry Okinawa.
These earrings have a makers mark of "WL." We believe this is Woo Leung Li Jewellry Company of Hong Kong. It is likely that Sanyo Jewelry imported these earrings from Woo Leung Li. The earrings are in fine condition and have apparently been very content remaining in their plush velvet lined box.
These earrings are very well made. Each 14k Yellow Gold half-hoop hosts 5 Jade Cabochons, each measuring ~4.5mm x 6mm. 4 are Yellow, Red, Green, and White Jadeite and 1 is Black Nephrite, which is traditionally added to multi-color Jade pieces. The Cabochons are individual prong-set onto the hoops. Very well made indeed. Each earring measures approximately .75 (3/4) inches in length. Each earring is fitted with a 14k Yellow Gold Butterfly Clasp.
