Antique Art Deco 14k Jade Sautoir Pendant
Our Maui client estate estimates turn of the 1900s for this beautiful Jade Sautoir. We think that's in the ballpark. From styling and craftsmanship we believe early Art Deco, 1920s or thereabout. The gorgeous 14k Filigree Chain just screams period antique, but to us the clincher was the integrated security chain for attaching the pendant to blouse or button. In many, many years we've only encountered a handful of these. A period detail that was applied to fine jewelry. Gone now for many, many years.
The pendant is Type-A, completely natural and untreated, Jadeite. It is expertly carved in a floral design and has a beautiful finish front and back. The carving is crisp and the detail fine. The Jade itself is a medium green with white mottling. It has average translucency. A beauty overall.
The carved Jadeite pendant measures ~39mm x 26mm. Large! The Jadeite bead is ~5mm. The 14k Filigree Chain has a length of ~16 inches. The piece has a total weight of 9.3 grams.
