Vintage Australian Coober-Pedy White Crystal Opal Earrings
From Australia via a local O'ahu Estate. Nice family who relocated from "Down Under" several years ago and now residing on O'ahu contacted AEJ to downsize their jewelry collection. We're so glad they did. And we hope to bring more from this wonderful collection.
Here is a vintage pair of Opal Earrings from the the "Opal Capital of the World," Coober-Pedy, Australia. Known for their beautiful natural Opals, these are indeed special. The settings are 9K Yellow Gold - a gold purity seen very often in Australia. They feature a rope trim front with four prongs holding the inset Opals. The Opals are White Crystal Opals - a white body but with fine translucency and beautiful Play-of-Color.
The Opals measure ~8.1mm x 6mm x 2.5mm for a calculated total weight of ~1.40 Carats. Beautiful fire. The face of the earrings measures ~10mm x 8MM. We also wanted to note the finish on the backs. Amazing care was taken to ensure a finished appearance on the back as well as the front. The earrings are secured with 14k Yellow Gold friction clasps.
