Vintage Quan Yin Intaglio Cut Pendant
Wow - what a find!
From an O'ahu Estate comes this beautiful and beautifully elegant Citrine Pendant with an intaglio carved image of Quan Yin.
Quan Yin, also Kwan Yin, or Guanyin, is a common Chinese name of the bodhisattva associated with compassion known as Avalokiteśvara. Guanyin is short for Guanshiyin, which means "[The One Who] Perceives the Sounds of the World."
This is a beautiful depiction and can be worn intaglio side out, or as we display here, intaglio reversed. It is carved into a pear-cut and faceted Golden Citrine. The level of detail and the slightly irregular edges of the carving suggest it was likely done by hand rather than by machine.
The pendant measures 20mm in length, including bail. The bail tests as 10k Yellow Gold. The pendant is suspended from a 14k Yellow Gold chain in a rope design and measuring approximately 15.5 inches. Pendant and chain together have a weight of 6.6 grams.
This pendant will be shipped in a gold-trimmed red leatherette box suitable for presentation or storage.
