Vintage Quan Yin Intaglio Cut Pendant
Wow - what a find!
From an O'ahu Estate comes this beautiful and beautifully elegant Citrine Pendant with an intaglio carved image of Quan Yin.
Quan Yin, also Kwan Yin, or Guanyin, is a common Chinese name of the bodhisattva associated with compassion known as Avalokiteśvara. Guanyin is short for Guanshiyin, which means "[The One Who] Perceives the Sounds of the World."
This is a beautiful depiction and can be worn intaglio side out, or as we display here, intaglio reversed. It is carved into a pear-cut and faceted Golden Citrine.
This lovely pendant is rare - at least to us. In over 30 years in the business we've only seen Quan Yin depicted in this style perhaps 2 other times. Each different from this.
The pendant measures 20mm in length, including bail. The bail tests as 10k Yellow Gold. The pendant is suspended from a 14k Yellow Gold chain in a rope design and measuring approximately 15.5 inches. Pendant and chain together have a weight of 6.6 grams.
