Imperial Very Large Akoya Pearls Necklace
This is a vintage strand of Very Large Akoya Pearls from Imperial World, circa mid-1990s. They are a beautiful white-to-light-cream color with light overtones of pinkish-rose. The cream color accents a bit more than actual under studio lighting.
Imperial World imported primarily Akoya Pearls of very good quality in all size ranges. The Very Large Akoya Pearls were their most expensive strands. The typical sizing for the various Akoya Pearls is:
- Small Akoya pearls: 5 mm to 6 mm
- Medium Akoya pearls: 6 mm to 7 mm
- Large Akoya pearls: 7 mm to 8 mm
- Very large Akoya pearls: 8 mm to 9 mm
These Pearls have not seen much wear and present beautifully. They have a high luster and medium nacre and their natural blemishes, common on larger Pearls, are relatively few. Noted blemishes are very few wrinkles and several dimples. These are naturally occurring during the Pearl formation within the Oyster and are considered in the Pearl Market to be non-damaging and common.
The strand measures approximately 17.5 inches in length and there are a total of 48 Pearls with measurements approximately 8.5mm - 8.7mm. The Pearls are individually knotted and secured with a 14k Yellow Gold Fishhook Clasp marked with the Imperial World IWI Trademark as shown. The strand has a weight of approximately 43.9 grams.
This necklace will arrive in the new, well padded, Pearl Folder as shown.
