Very nice Japanese Saltwater Akoya Pearl Necklace from the International Pearl Syndicate (I.P.S.).

The International Pearl Syndicate (IPS) - also Imperial Pearl Syndicate - was a significant player in the early 20th-century Pearl industry, particularly known for importing Japanese Akoya Pearls. Their Pearls were purchased from Mikimoto and smaller farms in regions like Mie or Nagasaki. Their operations were closely tied to the broader developments in the cultured Pearl industry during that era. Its role as an importer of Japanese Akoya Pearls contributed to the globalization of Pearl jewelry.

Their Pearls were known for their luster, superior surface, and overall high quality. This strand is from about Mid-Century. We're told it was very infrequently worn and that shows from its pristine unblemished condition. It was recently restrung and again tucked away so that the silk cord still remains tight, but will relax and present an elegant drape after a few wearings.

The strand is ~17.5 (17 1/2) inches in length and the Pearls have an average measure between 5.2mm and 5.5mm. The strand has an I.P.S. marked 14k Gold closure and has a weight of ~15.6 grams.
