Estate Prasiolite Solitaire Ring in 14K White Gold Setting
Prasiolite, also known as Lime Citrine, Green Amethyst, Green Quartz, Veregreen, and Amegreen, is a rare member of the Quartz family. In fact, it is one of only a few green varieties of quartz and as such, some consider Prasiolite as a variety of Amethyst. Prasiolite can be very pale in color or a deep petrol green. Its name is derived from the Greek words ‘prason’, which means leek, and ‘lithos’, which means stone. It can be found in Brazil, Uruguay, Zambia, and other locations around the world.
And this is a lovely, lovely example of this beautiful stone. It comes from a local Hawai'i Estate as a pass-down that just wasn't worn much. We're told it is remembered from the 1990s. It could be older, but we'll stick with an "Estate" Classification. No issues with condition.
The stone is a Square Checkerboard Cut. Its entire surface has been faceted for maximum refraction. It sits in a nicely designed setting where the stone is raised higher to display the entire stone when viewed from the side. The Prasiolite is surrounded by a halo of small natural accent Diamonds which is a nice finish to the ring.
This ring has a prominent size. The face of the ring measures 12mm x 12mm. It is a size 4.5 (4 1/2) and has a weight of 2.3 grams.
