4-Strand Salt Water Keshi Pearls With 14K Yellow Gold Clasp
If you search our site for Keshi you'll find these Pearls and also a good discussion about Keshi Pearls on our Jewelry Blog.
Keshi come from the Oyster that produces Salt Water Akoya Pearls. The Akoya Pearl is seeded into the Oyster and eventually produces a beautiful completely round pearl. Keshi are not seeded. They occur spontaneously by the Oyster responding to an irritant in the shell and creating the irregularly shaped Pearl. Unlike Akoya Pearl which have a thin to thick Nacre - the coating the makes the Pearl beautiful, Keshi Pearls are almost all Nacre. Salt Water Keshi Pearls are typically small. These, for example, measure about 4mm to 5mm each. Together, however, they create the beautiful Pearl Necklace you see here.
This necklace features 4 strands of Keshi Pearls. They can be worn straight, or, as most ladies prefer, with a couple of twists to create a rope-like appearance. Either way - a winner. The 4-strands are joined by a very, very nice 14K Yellow Gold clasp suitable for wear behind the neck or off-shoulder as shown in our photos. The necklace is approximately 16.75 (16 3/4) inches in length and has a weight of approximately 42 grams.
