Exquisite Vintage Jadeite Carved Pendant
Quality stands out. Often screams at you. It does here. This, is quality.
This is a large openwork natural Type-A (no treatment) Jadeite Pendant banded in 14K gold with a 14K bail. It measures approximately 40mm x 30mm and has an approximate weight of 15 grams. We're providing numerous photos for you to appreciate the uncompromising detail of the carving - front and back. So detailed is the carving that there really isn't a front or back. Both sides are exquisitely finished. We can only recall two such pendants passing through our store, the last about 3 years ago. Better in person than photos could ever convey.
We have, however seen several "imitations" of this impressive and exquisite work. We've called attention to the masterful carving of this Jade Pendant. Now look at photos 9 and 10. These are very, very poorly made imitations of this piece. Note the low quality of the Jade - if it is Jade - and the poor, very poor, craftsmanship. The piercings are mis-shaped, and several do not even penetrate fully. Looking at front and back of this piece is an epic tale of cheap made cheaper. We found this piece, incidentally, being sold on the internet for about $300 for the pendant alone. Just waiting for an unsuspecting buyer to come along.
But back to THIS exquisite piece. It was paired with an equally exquisite 14k chain. These are called Snail, or Snail Shell, Chains. They are each hand made. They are rare and they are pricey. We've posted a photo of these chains for sale. The one shown is 45 cm in length, ours is a bit shorter at 38 cm (15 inches) length, but you'll appreciate the point. Beautiful Chain. Rare Chain.
Investment quality. Don't believe it will be with us long.
