Vintage Beautiful 14K Akoya Pearls Station Bracelet
A phrase used often at Aloha Estate Jewelry is "they don't make them like this anymore." That phrase speaks to both the quality and value of jewelry. And that's what we have here - Quality and Value.
This is a beautiful Vintage Mid-Century Japanese Akoya Pearl Station Bracelet. The Pearls are held in position through the manner used for their assembly. 14K Yellow Gold wire is looped and passed through the first Pearl, then looped and twisted. Another 14K Yellow Gold wire is looped through the first Pearl's wire loop, twisted, passed through the second Pearl, and another loop formed. This manner of Loop-And-Twist or Loop-And-Wrap with 14k Gold wire is continued through all the Pearls, with a 14K Clasp joined at the end. Lots of work, and lots of skill to do this.
For historical accuracy, Elsa Peretti is credited with design of the first Station Necklace about 1974 while working at Tiffany & Co., but the Pearl Station Necklace was popularized by Rene Russo in the 1996 movie, Tin Cup. It is has a fashion staple since. While of earlier origin, we refer here to this bracelet as a Station Bracelet for similarity of design and because many are familiar with that term.
These Pearls are fine in every regard. Each saltwater Akoya Pearl is 6mm round. Cream with pink overtones. There are 18 Pearls in the bracelet strand and the bracelet is 7.5 (7 1/2) inches in length.
Fine Pearls for any collection of fine jewelry.
