Vintage Custom Spessartite Garnet Solitaire Ring
Custom rings are always interesting. Being in the business of Jewelry you occasionally pause to reflect on the designer and craftsman whose imagination and skill allowed an item to become reality. Such is this ring. In 10k yellow Gold is a pair of intertwined leaves, likely Acanthus Leaves, which frame the space for the large solitaire gemstone. And what a gemstone! Spessartite, technically Spessartine, was discovered in the late 1800s and has become a favorite of gemologists and jewelers alike. An uncommon stone with its own distinct beauty in blended shades of orange and red.
This lovely comes from an Hawai'i Estate from which details of the ring were provided. It dates to the late 1960s and the gemstone is a 2.5 (2 1/2) carat Mozambique Spessartite in a mesmerizing Reddish Orange Color, which is typical of this gem. It measures approximately 8mm x 4.6mm. It suits the setting so very well it's hard not to fall in love with this ring.
This ring is a size 7.25 (7 1/4) and has a weight of 7.7 grams.
