Vintage Fine Green Turquoise Ring in 14K Buttercup Setting
Quick story. Sat with clients discussing their paring back on some jewelry holdings from inheritances recent and past. When coming to this ring we were discussing age. From setting to general style we estimated 1950s - then there was a back and forth between some agreeing and some believing older. So we all agreed it's at least in the older Vintage Category and we left it there. But we agree. It could be older.
A gorgeous custom made ring in 14k Yellow Gold. While unmarked, we tested on the bench and confirmed 14k. The Buttercup Style Setting hosts a simply gorgeous and large green Turquoise Cabochon. We had to look several times, and finally had to test, to confirm it was Turquoise. Yes, Blue Sleeping Beauty and Blue Persian Turquoise can be this "Clean" - but not usually Green Turquoise. Here we find subtle variations of green in this gem-grade Turquoise. Not "Mottling" but rather smooth transitions across the green tonal range. From this very distinctive color we believe it to be an extraordinary Turquoise specimen from the famed Royston Turquoise Mines.
And we said large and large it is, measuring approximately 16mm x 10mm, which makes the face of the ring large as well, measuring approximately 23mm x 12mm. Lots of presence. Just one of those pieces that you simply cannot go wrong by adding to your collection of fine jewelry. Exceptional craftsmanship, beautiful stone, wonderful proportion; it just has it all.
This lovely is a size 4 with room for sizing up or down a size or two and has a very respectable weight of approximately 5.72 grams.
