14K Desert Casbah Pendant or Charm
"Come with me to the Casbah!" For a bit of background, that phrase is from the 1938 film, “Algiers” where Charles Boyer’s character tries to entice the ingenue played by Hedy Lamar to join him at…..well you know where - The Casbah. The phrase was never actually used in the film but only in the trailer promoting it. But, more interestingly, Boyer’s character, Pepe le Moko, was the inspiration for Warner Brothers’ 1945 cartoon character, Pepe le Pew, a French-accented skunk who was forever looking for love and used the memorable phrase, “Come weez me to zee Casbah”
This 14K vintage charm, also wearable as a pendant, shows a desert casbah (fortress) with palm tree in the foreground and blazing sun overhead. You can almost feel the heat. This beautiful vintage charm, probably before 1950 when "The Casbah" was all the rage, measures 1.25 (1 1/4) inches in diameter and has a weight of 7 Grams.
